This. Being religious has nothing to do with being a foolish, blinkered, culturally tone-deaf bigot.
I'm religious--admittedly Pagan, but I have Christian friends who find this sort of thing disgusting. The fact that some people consider this "religious" saddens them in the same way that Pagans such as myself get disgusted with the way fantasy films and faux-witchcraft tv series get conflated with our beliefs.
