First I think, "What a great OP". Then I think, "What does that fool think he is doing?" My next thought, as I was a medic in the service, was, "How the hell you think I'm going to get there when you got your sorry ass shot up to get there?" Finally I read the fine print written by the cameraman, "I was point heading down the face of the hill with the LT. when we got hit." Sheesh. Not sure what lieutenants are like now, but back in my time that would explain a lot about the situation. I never was in war, but I followed a bunch of them pretending to be (not to mention the time a Captain nearly started an international instance without leaving the country).
God bless them all. I have many friends who have come back physically in one piece. Nobody comes back mentally in one piece - nobody. I think the friend I'm most proud of came back, went to school to be a Chaplin, and is looking forward to returning. You'd be surprised how many wanted to return.
