In our organization users are no longer local admins. I can see why Stardock and others would move application installations to the users folder yet many large organizations limit the size of those folders for syncronization and backup. Also in our case it is an issue because the non-admin accounts can't install anything. What we do is give certain users priveldged accounts to install software with.
The problem I'm facing is if I install as "administrator" with a priveledged account the normal user account cannot access or run the apps because they seem to be (at least with SDC) installed in the "active user's" folder (the priveledged account's folder on the machine).
I have both types of accounts as I lead an emerging technologies team and have to try software and solutions all of the time. If I install with my priveledged account my normal day to day user account (myUserID) cannot access the software since it was actually installed with the privedledge account and user (myPriveledgedUserID) and folder.
Anyway around this? This leads me to what others have asked for around a customizable install.
Thanks,
Vince
