Essentially, Windows Explorer keeps stopping and then re-starting. In itself this is just a pain in the backside, but oftern this screws up my wireless internet connection which can only be re-started by a hard re-boot. Real pain. Windows Explorer seems to suit itself when it decides to stop/re-start.
I can get Windows Explorer to stop on demand. I just right click the desktop and try to create a new shortcut. This operation fails to browse for the application etc, but does create an empty shortcut icon. BUT only after Windows Explorer stops then re-starts. How do I stop this? You guessed. Stop Fences. Then I can right click and create shortcut icons all the time. No problem.
I have tried altering permissions, and most recently, switched to XP compatibility for Fences. This has made things much more stable. BUT the right click shortcut creation still crashes Windows Explorer.
Having read the forums and other sources, it appears that Fences is the culprit. So when is Stardock going to sort this?
Am I the only one going crazy over this?
Let me know if more information is required.
Thanks
Chris
