Kids and being sick!

I tell ya, if you haven't had kids yet, appreciate your good health.

I'd always been one of those unusually healthy people. Perfect school attendance, never sick. Got married, still never got sick.

We had our first kid and for 4 years, no illness at all. But this year, our son started pre-school and BAM. Nasty stomach flu went through every person in the family. Lasted a week per person (4 people in the household) and on me rather than being REALLY sick for a week I was just somewhat sick for 2 weeks. All last week I pretty much just hang around the house laying down staring at the ceiling with a couple of hours to spend on the net (wireless laptop is a great entertainment device).

I think we're going to stop at 2 kids!

You have a wireless laptop *and* kids? Does skinning pay so much? (btw, ir your other kid is under 2 years, try give him/her the laptop. preferably with some colorful screensaver and observe the expression

I'll tell you what i told my ex-fiance/present girlfriend (they are the same and dont ask) who has a kid (9 year old girl) and who for a short time worked at what i think the CDC (Center for Disease Control) should condemn as a health hazard... a pre-school.

I told her kids are like pestilence. They are like rats. They spread diseases, sickness and parasites faster than any rat can. Always coughing and wiping their noses (and asses most likely) with their hands and then running and touching each other. I mean i wouldnt even consider going to a preschool without some sort of HAZ MAT environmental suit on.

Yeh i guess thats why they are dubbed "rugrats" hehe. Yeh i know all you breeders out their love you kids but invest in some anti-bacterial soap and scrub them down before they enter your house . I'll stick with my cats haha.

As soon as the insurance kicks in i'm electing for the old "cut and snip" procedure. Now way i'll be the cause of a worldwide epidemic like Capt Trips.

Now go hug you kids and then take a shower

Wasn't there a mysterious red rash that was showing up only in schools? School is where most kids develop antibodies to all the common ailments but these days the bugs are a lot nastier and have new internal code every year so you just keep getting infected with a new strain of something you already had.

After our kid grew up I found the same thing happened going to conventions. Something about a 5 hour flight seems to guarantee you'll catch something dreadful.

I have the perfect solution, although it's probably too late for Brad.

Don't have kids.

Sure, the human race will die out, but it's a small price to pay. I've never liked kids, and I'm just glad I wasn't ever one...

I have six kids (4G, 2B), so I can tell you they'll be sick more often then you are, but you'll be sick more often then you're used to. But I think they're worth it.

Even today I'm still not quite back to full strength. I took so many precauations too. Lysol all over, anti-bacterial soap. I even slept in my basement lab area when all of htem were sick to try to avoid it but ultimately I got it and was ill for nearly 2 weeks.
