Litestep : LSTS Question

For the Litestep proficient members. I have installed Litestep via the avavilable OTS installer, as well as the LSTS program which of course enables the ease of changing my Litestep themes on the "fly." In addition to these, I have also downloaded the lsdpatch which allows me the freedom of installing and use of both OTS and distro themes.

Question #1: With having installed Litestep v. 0.24.6 and the default OTS compliant theme, is it necessary to initially configure the lsdpatch for using other OTS compliant themes? By default I already have a Litestep directory named X:\Litestep\personal.

Question #2: In patch.rc setup, I am directed to "edit lsdpatch\rcfiles\distroevars.rc and ensure the paths are set correctly." I need some clarification as to what I am verifying, and what would need "editing."

Question #3: With the changes patch.rc requires while using LSTS to switch themes, do I disregard following install instructions given in the readme file by the author? Or am I "locked" into using the "properly(?)" configured LSTS program?

I realize this is a hearty order, but with the communitiy's solid 'Steppers, I would rather not trust any other source at this time.

BTW, I am RTFM.

Renegade, unfortunately I only recently tried out the OTS installer, etc...and I haven't even tried the patch as yet, so I'm next to useless...

Whatever LS version you use, you will still be required to check that any path ststements point to the correct proggy locations, etc...for YOUR computer's setup.
Even Windows might not necessarily be in a c:\windows directory...but maybe 'c:\winnt'.
Anything 'might' be different, so you just need to check for sure before running the system...switching to that shell.

I do know that current versions (including OTS) will automatically recongnize where the Litestep directory is located, so it isn't neccesary to have that defined in the step.rc. I believe it will also auto reconize the "windows" directory as well.

I do know that the main difference between lsdistro and OTS is where the third party mods are stored. OTS themes keep them within the themes directory; LSdistro stored them in the Main Litestep directory (or subforlders within either).

So in terms of using one for the other, the path to third party mods AND the path (and "includes") to the personal.rc (whick points to your hotkey and popup rc's)
are the key things.

Kind of vague details there, but keep firing the questions and we will do our best to help.

Welllllllll,

I am going to keep hammering away at this, too determined to give up this early in the game. I am also spending sometme in #fpn, and subscribed to litestep@litestep.ru.ac.za. Thanks for the time you have taken, always glad to hear from you both. I anticipate we will continue bumping into each other from time to time, probably after I start to feel that I have an idea what I am doing. Know what I mean?
