In Vista only Taskbar is customized...

Hi, I'm using WB7 on Vista Home Prem.  I had it installed a long time ago and I'm SURE it was working correctly..  

After a rebuild, I tried reinstalling and this time the Window Borders and Start Menu are not getting skinned.  (Though the Taskbar is; see image below.)

My info from the About Screen is:

I have WB and also Skin Studio installed, but I didn't install the Object Desktop updater app thing--could that be the problem?

Try a UIS2 skin. Does it skin ok?  UIS0 is Aero, prettied up.

P.S. Rerun the WEI, that score of one is below par.

Hi Wizard, Thanks for the reply.  Yea, I noticed the Index score... It's actually higher (though not much).

I will study up about UIS2 skins.  I did a quick search of the 'Get More Skins' site and didn't see much, but I saw some forum posts about converting UIS1 to UIS2...  Also, I forgot to mention in my OP that the two Win 8 themes actually *DO* work.  I'm not using them because they don't seem compatible with Actual Window Manager (and I don't care for them).  I have AWM disabled during my trouble shooting, though I'm sure I remember it being compatible with WBs.

 

EDIT:  Ah ha...  This also helps:
Make sure that the actual Windows settings are for "Aero" and not "Basic."    

Side question though:  What to the little Windows icons above the sample shot in the Style Tab indicate??  Does that mean it's compatible with XP and Vista, or does it mean it can emulate XP or Vista?

I reported a similar problem like this ages ago kunkel321.  Any UIS0 skin I applied in Vista or Windows 7 applied as Windows Classic. There is something wrong with ALL the UIS0 skins that come with WB7. You will also notice, as in your screenshot, that even though it says it is compatible with 1 (one) style, that both the Windows XP and the Windows Vista icons appear above the theme image in the skin styles area. I imagine that is an issue also. So far I have not heard back from anyone since I was told is that they are looking into it but could not duplicate the problem.  So I just set all the UIS0 skins to 1 star and set my filter in WB to 3 stars and I do not even see them.  Does not matter to me really as I don't like any of them anyway.

There is nothing wrong with the UIS0 skins included with WB7.

The problem in this thread related to the user not having the DWM enabled on their machine for some reason and it appears applying Windows Aero first resolved this problem.

I have no problems with the UIS0 skins that came with WB, or any other. I run them on Vista 32 bit and 7 64 bit.

Oops, sorry Neil. Actually I forgot to mention my issue has nothing to do with DWM, it has to do with having TuneUp Utilities 2012 installed (which I am not going to give up). It has GUI changing capabilities too for .msstyles format, but I do not use that feature. I guess just having the application installed causes issues with UIS0 skins though. I emailed them, but of course like most companies nowadays they never answered. Might there be a workaround for this? Wish I knew.
