I've had the same problem. You do not have to disabling WFX5 - in my case switching off animatad menu in Dopus fixes th problem.

A new WindowFX Beta 2 Update 1 build is available from the store downloads page or Stardock Central that should address the cpu spiking and staying high.

It will.  Had a 'back end' issue with the last update, probably same with this one.  Kris'll fix it.

Well I'll be a monkey's uncle, THIS WORKS!!!  

 

I'll try it all day, but so far, no explorer crashes or maxed CPU.

 

Kris, you might want to pass a note on whatever had to be changed to whoever is the Deskscapes Codemaster on duty these days.   As I mentioned in my post before, this behavior was identical to a longstanding problem there, and if this fixxed it here, it might fix it there.  Just a thought.

Ahhh, then it definitely could be the same thing happening within the Deskscapes engine, because muliple monitors/multi-GPU cause the same consequences there.

Amazingly good catch, Stardock elite.

Very frequently, but not 100% of the time, when I save a document in Word 2010 the window will dim/trans & stay that way until clicked.  Happens with Excel, too.

I am having problems displaying the shutdown menu in the windows 7 start menu, only the shadow is visible.  If i disable Windows FX It displays fine, I didn't have the problem in beta 1.

Neil: I have a tra and ttt using the particle engines. I have set 4, and defined 4 ParticleEngine1,2,4 sections in the tra and 4 EMITT opcodes in the ttt, one each for 0,1,2 and 3.

Engines 2 and 3 don't seem to render.
