Tonight is the first night of the Hanukah celebration, my favorite celebration. Any holiday that requires me to eat latkes (shredded potatoes fried in oil, served with apple sauce or sour cream) and doughnuts (um, doughnuts) is okay with me. Oh, yes, and we give out chocolate coins. (Yes, Feline, I used the "c" word.)
Hanukah is a celebration of freedom and the right of people to practice their religous beliefs. At least thats the way we interpret it at my house, but I'm a secular humanist, so what do I know.
Anyone interested in learning a more traditional point of view can go to http://www.everythingjewish.com/Hanukah/origins.htm
I just wanted to wish everyone a bright and special evening.
Peace.
