Who is running 64-bit Windows right now?

I've been a 64 bit Win 7 user from the beginning, as it was the first widely supported 64 bit OS.

I do a little gaming, single player RTS or casual.

As has been said,  I choose games on playablility alone.  Minecraft has blocky graphics but great play.

64bit machine, used for primarily for gaming, would definitely buy games that can take advantage of what it has to offer over 32bit machines.

64 bit windows 7 - why would you get anything else? Makes no sense to buy 32 bit version of windows 7 and if you are still on xp then you are missing

The games I play (WoW, EQII, LOTRO) don't have 64-bit versions. If I was playing one that was, then I would probably do so based on the performance and processing differences I have seen with my other software. I think that the success of the software depends on its design and the architecture of the machine. Just because it works well on one machine doesn't mean it will work well on another with similar configuration. This has been evidenced for me with WoW and especially EQII. In those games there are long discussion as to video cards, RAM speed, processors and which are being used to get best speed and response. The consensus is that the best have been desktops with cooled GPUs that have a ton of memory. Something I don't have in my little laptop with 512mb + shared. But we have done pretty good. A lot of gamers use high end laptops.

Yes,  I have two laptops, each running 64-bit Windows 7.

 

I bought machines specifically because I thought 64-bit would be here by now.

 

Would it make me more likely to buy a game?  I'd say yes, but it wouldn't be a sole reason to buy a game.

 

I think Valve's statistics on Steam show only about 10% of their users are still on 32-bit. (can't remember an exact source though)

 

The question is what percentage of your users play on non 64-bit, and is it worth it to risk losing those sales?  (I'd say yes for GalCiv III)

I'm using 64 bit windows pretty much everywhere I use windows, except my wife's computer.

I use the system for gaming, but I don't play very many modern PC games. It's mostly for things that are independent or are the kind of strategy games you don't see on consoles. Most of my gaming is on the PSP, DS, or PS3.

I would love to have 64 bit versions of my games so long as it improves performance. Since the number of registers is higher on AMD64 based systems than x86 ones, it should be a fair bit faster to run native 64 bit as long as you have a good optimizer.

I say yes to all three, but I only have 1 system and the fact that it is 64 is basically accidental.

Total :  38.57%

* 64 bits :

- win xp : 1.03%

- win 2003 : 0.23%

Total : 55.66%

Rest is mAC and other OS...

When I built my new gaming PC in the spring I still went with 32 bit, Win 7 of course.  Nothing (that I run anyway) takes advantage or more then 4 gig and won't for a while.  And I run a lot of old games and some have issues with 64 bit.  Heck, some new ones do.  And don't give me guff that I'm off base because I'm not.  I remember there being issues with Dragon Age Origins on launch and ended up being only those on 64 bit systems.  I just don't need to or want to bother with the odd issue, I just want it to work.  I work on computers all day long at work, last thing I want to do at home is troubleshoot some stupid driver problem.   Probably my next build (which will be 4-5 yrs or so) will 64 bit, mostly because that will probably be all that's available.  LOL

x2 - game at home and on my computer at work (it's nice being the boss)

 

edit: also my laptop is win7 x64, so make that x3, although I don't game often on it, when I do it is 4x games only

I am running Windows 7 64-bit and it is my main gaming rig.

That last is a tricky question and I suppose my answer would be no. I essentially by games that I like. I consider 64-bit a bonus feature, and I never factor it into my decision to buy a game or not. The only things I consider in my purchases are whether I think the game will be good, and the cost.

 

To tell you the truth, i really don't know if any of my games are 64-bit aware, well except for Elemental of course. Are Starcraft 2, Shogu 2, Batman Arkham Asylum, or Civilization V 64-bit aware? I never even thought about that when I bought them. I saw them, like the gameplay, and bought them.

With Elemental, it's different. You told us what the impact of adding 64-bit support would bring to the game, and so that's why I'm pushing for you to add that feature, but that missing feature did not stop me from buying Elemental.

Yes, Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit

Yes, I play games everyday, just not all day.

Yes, depending on the content and style of game.  RPG - maybe, Racing - Definitlely. Myst Style Adventure - most definitely

My last foray into 64 bit gaming , was Sacred 2, unfortunately it came out a couple months before windows 7, and was a Vista only game, not supported at all on windows 7 for some very strange reason, and i could no longer play it anymore, so gave it away, $60 gone.
