I think that would be a great idea. It would seem perhaps not to horrible to program?

Burningfeetman since you show only one tab why not use a Zoomer Dock instead of the Tabbed?  I use both Zoomer and Tabbed docks on my desktop.  I normally have five Tabs on my tabbed dock.  I use Zoomer in two ways, two are set up with four or five shortcuts and when I need to fill out a theme I sometimes set up a Zoomer with just one shortcut or docklet like a Clock or Weather.  You can move both types of docks around on the desktop to where ever you want them.

Give it a try, it may solve the problem. 

The only reason I'm not using a zoomer dock is that they can't float. Unless I'm mistaken, zoomers only stick to the sides of screens? I'd be happy to use a zoomer dock if they can float mid-screen.

EDIT: Hold the phone, I see they have a "distance from edge" option, interesting! Strange how you can't just drag a zoomer dock around like a tabbed dock.

EDIT EDIT: Zoomer docks behave a little strangely when offset, plus they're not really designed to be floating. The original request of hidden tabs on tabbed docks still stands.

For the record, I'm using the purchased Objectdock Plus 2.

I think the point is to have a floating dock, so no switching needed.

After trying a few other ideas, I believe the best solution would be to have the ability to hide a single tab tabbed dock. Obviously for multiple tabs, you need them visible, but for the tabbed docks that only have a single tab, it would be great if that single tab can simple be hidden.

Moving the zoomer I think may cause complications. I found some sticky pop-up icon text for instance, where if the mouse moved above or below the floating zoomer dock, the text got stuck.

How about create a background with on-board tabs then take away the names. This dock has four tabs.

You can create one with any type of color or shape or frame and with tabs within the rectangle. I like this type anyway because they are more streamlined looking than the more traditional tabs. Download one from the gallery and see how it is done with the ini file and such and then you can create exactly.
