Absolutely right, but I did not think the vertical movement adjustment would have allowed the search box to go that high in the settings. All a game of experimentation though.
One of the tricks I use when I have my startmenu off the taskbar by more than a couple of pixels: I add blank pixels to the top and bottom of my search box graphic. That way, you are "tricking" the placement of the search bar, and then, you don't have to adjust the vertical position so much...you just have to make sure the search bar looks ok in the rest of your skin.
