Impulse has been sold, and will no longer be used for Stardock skinning programs. They are working on a new Stardock Central-type application. In the meantime, go to "My Account". You can upload new versions of your paid software when they come out. I agree about Impulse; it was a very sophisticated application, but was overkill for those of us who only care about skinning software. I got e-mails about my WinCustomize and ObjectDesktop subscriptions running out a couple of days ago, and was easily able to renew. 

Impulse is still working and brings the software updates correctly, and even it has been sold it should at least be OK to update Renewed subscriptions dates ...

Actually, since Stardock sold Impulse your info will be better protected this way Neophil78.

It really makes more sense that it's possible for only Stardock to know your info for transactions involving SD software {which will be there <24 hrs. usually only a few minutes).

I don't know if the app being developed and tested will have this capability too, but seems logical (to me, anyway) that it will.

Yep that's exactly right too.  Object Desktop and Wincustomize are now completely separate businesses from Impulse.  All renewals and accounting for renewals are handled in the Stardock Store.  Impulse will remain "unaware" of these transactions.  You will get your support, program updates and downloads through the Stardock Store.

It is my understanding there will be a new Stardock Central/Stardock Impulse replacement at some point in time.  Until then use the Stardock Store. 

Lots of discussion has occurred on this topic in other threads, neophil.  We are in an 'interegnum' - following the sale of Impulse to Gamestop, Impulse has continued to function as it previously had for active ODNT subscribers but only until their existing subscription expires (here's hoping the new App Manager is ready by January).  Gamestop is having Impulse slowly shed Stardock ODNT/Desktop Enhancement customers one by one as their subs expire, as Gamestop will be using Impulse only for its gaming business once the transition is complete.

Once you renew your sub, you have no choice for now but to use the Stardock Store to D/L & activate any program updates released after that date.  As far as I know, your existing apps should continue to work just as they always have.  You'll only need to access the store for any updates from this point forward, until such time as a/the new App Manager is implemented (they say they are working on one, a la Stardock Central).  ETA on it is unknown.

Don't know if future editions of Impulse will be able to do that, Neophil. Did Impulse support .sdc archives?

At some point, the HDD's with all that stuff are going to give up the ghost. Don't know what OS's, etc. made the Impulse archives... but when that happens you'll probably lose the archives anyway and Impulse's ability to extract them.

Though, When Stardock impose to go from SDC to Impulse, it was told to customers that all applications archived with Stardock Central should be archived again under Impulse to be possible to be restored & used in future time ... i had spend hours to do so ... 

What about the engagements stardock had with all his customers who pay subscriptions during years ??? and maybe have subscriptions till a few more years - it's in reference for the periods when Stardock encouraged to get few years subscritions to get some .suites in exchange ...) ??? 

When such products like Impulse are sold, everything must be sold with, and Stardock have a big responsability to let their customers the possibility to restore whatever they pay for during their subscriptions time.

For now i bought WindowBlinds 1 when it just came out for Windows 98, and if i want i still can re install it on a Win 98 PC by using SDC on it.

And for the future, i require Stardock to do whatever he has to do, to let me have the possibility of doing the same with any product i pay for during my subscribed periods (though since something like 1999 !!!! )

Stardock just have to remember who make them live !!!!!!!!!!!

Any word yet when the new downloader will be available?  I'm waiting for that to renew/upgrade. 

When you say, "Stand alone," do you just mean the DL links?  That's the main thing I'm trying to avoid - I don't feel like having to go through everything in object desktop one at a time to see if it's the latest version and downloading it.
