Impulse spam

I just bought a licence for DeskScapes. Just want to let you know that this will be my last Stardock product ever, as instead of giving me a normal download link, I'm forced to install a crappy, spammy downloadmanager, called Impule.

Don't worry, that crappy impulse was sold to Game Stop. So I guess it isn't as crappy as you think.

asarian, Impulse is neither crappy nor spammy. Its function is to centralize/coordinate ALL of Stardock's software and game installs AND updates, and the 'spammy' notifications CAN be disabled if they bother you.

The installer/updater program [Impulse] isn't even required to be loaded as long as you are neither installing nor updating a program...

Well, I wasn't pleased with the tens of spam ads in it; and the install texts didn't even appear properly aligned. But I managed to prevent it from starting up in msconfig. So I guess I can live with that.

In more general terms, I really hate download managers like this: they kinda turn into a whole suite, as it were, with many ads, news itiems, etc. The only ever program I have accepted this from is my STEAM client.

I guess I did overreact a bit, though.

I have never experienced any sort of spam from impulse unless you are referring to the way they advertise their own products. You don't need impulse to run any of their software either, so you can just disable it and it wont bother you ever again.

Just guessing asarian, but since Impulse is very customizable - maybe you didn't read about it and how to use it first, and became frustrated and angry. You could try reading about its features and how to use them here:

You can also configure Impulse not to load at start up.

It's not necessary to use msconfig to keep it from loading.

what a surprise, another " i hate impulse" thread. But i notice that he "accepts" this from his STEAM client. How about before you decide to purchase you read the system requirements and then make a decision instead of blindly buying and then complaining. Sorry if this sounds harsh but i am getting a little tired of the fetching and moaning about impulse when it is one of the least intrusive programs i have come across. Explore the program and you will find you can even customise which tabs you see and turn off all notifications so you will never see any so called "spam"... geez louise
