You are reporting a trojan/virus coming in a download from Piriform? Are you sure? If so, you should report that to them, promptly with that screenshot.

Maybe this is a coincidence? Maybe your latest MSE update found that (and maybe it has something to do with the troubles you've been having with your computer?).

That is a possibility I'm not overlooking. But like I said...with all the shit going around lately how can you tell what is and what isn't a false positive. Err on the side of caution. If it makes me look like a fool, so what. I'd rather be a laughing fool than a crying one.

It's a bit inconceivable that Piriform would dump a trojan/virus in CCleaner, but it doesn't hurt to inform people as long as it's corrected if proven wrong. A lot of anti-virus programs flag things based on what appears to be suspicious behaviour rather than having a known signature.

Then if it is does anyone have any ideas as to what may be my lappy's problem.

I'd run a couple of the free on-line AV software manufacturers scanners (use the ones from the big players.......ESET/Norton etc) through your machine and see what it finds. Then run a couple of malware/spyware progs like Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware. Finally, HiJackThis is supposed to be a good 'finder of bad stuff' too. Any concerns........back-up anything you need to save.......and then clean and reinstall.

MalwareBytes came up clean as did IObit and Glary. Could it be the Root-Kit app I installed the other day? It found several unknown hidden files. Some of them from Object desktop, Rainmeter and DX widgets. I doubt very much if any of those have root-kits in them.

With all due respect........... It is not funny to me ! My laptop is all that I have and if it has problems I worry about it.

Sure. We've had this conversation before, but......

You repeatedly install everything that comes down the pike, then uninstall them when you hit overkill and your machine pukes.
 
A week later, you're back at it.

Now, at the risk of hurting your sensibilities....you're either nuts, paranoid or both. Whatever it is, get over it. Computers are suppose to be fun....not a fuckin' job!!

You need a good security suite and a backup program, both set to auto (I use Kaspersky/ Acronis) and that's it. Period!!!

You want to enjoy your computer and have it love you in return.......stop fucking with it and it will stop fucking with you.

Unlike people,  computers thrive on indifference.
