not sure if this helps anyone, but i too have had this problem with explorer crashing and restarting. all i was doing was sending a program from the start menu to desktop as shortcut. now i dont have any rules set, well not all of them i had the first item set to send all shortcuts to a fence i called files and shortcuts, well thats all i checked in the tools section. it still crashed, then i went back to the tools section and at the very bottom of the options box, it said "add new icons as the first send all the first icon in the fence" not sure why but it stopped the explorer from crashing and restartring. it says by default all new icons go to: and thats when you select your fence, correct. well why would checking the bottom item along with the fence i selected have anything to do with the explorer crashing.

i can tell you that you really have to pay attention to the rules you set, thats why the take snapshot feature is there, use it, it can save your butt if your like my desktop, this program is the best ever. i have been with stardock and wincustimize for a very long time now and they just keep getting better. it the one place i have never had to continue to upgrade , just update....big difference.

i hope i explained the crash somewhat that might help others at lest give them a push into looking at there setup and get it to run properly. let me add this. i tried the certain file types sorting, and well it made more of a mess a crashes alot. the only rule i need is for anything new or a new shortcut to go into a fence called simply "files and shortcuts." checked the 2 items in iits configuration for that fence and i am done. i have 3 other devices that sync up with and if i used the file type sorting, things will run away from me during some things i sync up.

to sum up, if your explorer crashes, then it may just be a rule that not in p-lace or correct, at least thats how mine been running...well gota go,

done that, it still crashds from time to time, seems if its somethging that has to do with explorer affects fenses pro some how. after i solve one issue, another type shows up, not even releated. very odd. i mdo have very many programs that inteface my laptop, from ipads to android devices, it could be one of those programs causing fenses pro to crash. at this point, its so widely spread with differeant triggers, going to be hard to track, been using my process manager, logging a few things from some of my old school toys i still have after i retired, maybe a log or 2 might help. i will keep you posted when i can.

I have exactly the same issues... Fence lite worked fine with XP SP2 32bit and 64 bit....

Now i've gone to Windows 7 Pro 64 bit on all machines (all virgin builds, not performed as upgrades) everything was perfectly fine until fences was installed...

Since then any shortcut creation, renaming, or anything that has any interaction to so with the desktop icon sets then explorer stops responding and restarts....

Remove fences... problem solved...

I have other system apps running (64 bit where possible), Daemon tools, Nero Mediahome, Linksys Network Magic, Avast AV, UltraVNC server

Have tried sequentially removing each of these with fences installed... same problem persists....

All I can surmise is that fences has some integration problem with something in my PC build...

For the moment I'll be running fences free unless stardock can work some magic and tell me why these issues suddenly!

yes i just tried that... still same issues.... 

sorry for delay replying ....

Tried running in a very cut down mode... disabled and quit AV, vnc server and as much as i could switch off in the systray.... even tried disabling all of these in MSconfig and rebooting... still no different..!

List of apps I have there when PC is fully up

RealVNC server, Avast Antivirus, Daemon Tools, Nero Mediahome, Cisco Network Magic, Steam, Xfire, Realtek Audio manager + the usual Volume, USB unplug.....
