No shadows in WFX 4...!

Just bought and installed WFX4 after uninstalling WFX3 in Windows XP SP3. What I liked most about WFX3 was the shadows. Now, they're gone! (I know Vista and Win7 already nave shadows, but I don't plan to use either of those in the near future.) I bought WFX4 thinking several years' newer technology might make the shadows run even more smoothly, only to find they run not at all. In your ad, you don't mention having shadows in WFX4, but you don't mention NOT having them either. It seems illogical to me to abritrarily drop such a terrific feature for no apparent reason.

In case it helps, if you like on XP you can run WFX3 at the same time as WFX4, they run individually.  I did it myself for awhile.

It has been many years since WindowFX3 which was designed for XP machines.  Many of the features it had no longer had any use under Vista / 7 and so the feature set was revisited to make the application useful on all OSes.

Because of this the shadows feature and some other XP features were removed from WindowFX 4.  However as DaveRI suggests above there is nothing to stop you running both on your machine as they do not share files, directories or registry keys.

Other missing features on XP are animations which are Vista / 7 only in WindowFX 4.  This is because XP is so different to the other OSes.

I TOTALLY agree with above post....stardock definitely ripped us off by not stating the removal of these features before purchasing!!

 You will have access to both programs.  What it means is you can have both installed at the same time on XP if you want features from each program.

The features of Stardock products are listed on the product pages.  Don't see feature X listed? Don't count on it being there.
