I just purchased ObjectDock Plus and I can't access the settings menu to configure the product.
I'm running Windows 7 Professional. I disabled Virus scanner. I ran as administrator. Neither worked.
anyone know how to fix this?
Okay, think you might have the name of the product wrong, Stardock Plus, could you mean ObjectDock Plus?
EDIT: That is why editing of the OP is not good. First responders look very bad.
Are you clicking on the icon in the dock that says "Configure Objectdock"? It has a big blue O shape with three small circles on the righthand side and a gear on the lefthand side.
I have tried two different ways to change settings. The first is to click on 'configure Object Dock' in the dock. The second is to right click on the dock and select settings. In both cases the cursor changes to the 'windows is busy' state and then I get the arrow back - no settings window opens.

When you right click are you clicking on the first settings or waiting for the menu to pop out and then clicking on the settings near the bottom?
Are you sure it wasn't a borked installation? I'd uninstall it through Impulse, reboot and reinstall.
Here's something. Did you install all updates through Impulse? Or stilling under Impulse while right clicking on the ODP 2 entry hold the SHIFT key down and then click on verify installation.
Ok. so I uninstalled Object Dock and Imulse. I reset the machine. I then deleted the couple of items left in Program Files/ Stardock and Program Data/ Stardock. I then did a clean install of Impulse and then an install of ObjectDock from Impulse.
I activated the project. when I shift-right click on the OD2 and select verify it says it's installed OK. It states there are no updates.
If you haven't done so already, email support@stardock.com and start a trouble ticket. These forums are mainly user supported and if you don't get a solution here that works you will get assistance from support through the official email system.
Hankders - I just sent in the email to support. I will post the fix here once I get it resolved - hopefully I get it resolved!
Very strange.... I had hoped the reinstall would have fixed it.
Sorry I couldn't help, michaeljennings2.
Did you have the previous version of ObjectDock installed? Did you uninstall it? I think I remember something saying not to uninstall the previous version because the new version uses some of it's files. I could be wrong.
Is there any reason OD would want to close saying it encountered a problem even though you're working in a graphics program? Happpened twice already. The first time it generated a crash report.
Although the 'Configure ObjectDock' icon does not open the settings, I changed the link to be 'About ObjectDoc'. It states that the installed version is StarDock MyDock v1.90. (build 539u). Why do i not get ObjectDoc 2.0?
Check in Impulse on the My Software Tab and see if Version 2.0 is showing available for download. It should show towards the bottom grayed out.
Impulse says V2.00, but when i do th About Object Doc it says it's 1.90
The about screen dialog you're getting is leftover from previous versions of ObjectDock, and you weren't supposed to be able to get to it. The fact that you had to do what you did to get that dialog means that you're using version 2.0
Ok. Thanks. so at least I have the right version.
for the 'ObjectDock Configure' / 'Settings' does it use Internet Explorer like Impulse, or is it .Net Framework based? I have .net Framework 4.0 and I see the requirements are 2.0. Anyone else using successfully with .Net Framwwork 4.0?
I added an icon to the dock for Configure ObjectDock, but still no luck. Click it and it pulses but nothing opens.
Is there an exe for the configuration that I can click on? I found a config file I can edit, but not sure how to create additional doc's with that
Are you using an Acer computer? If so please see these two threads. LINK and LINK for possible fixes.
Thanks for the links, but still no luck. I'm actually running on a Dell.
i previously did an uninstall, wiped all signs of ObjectDock from Program Files, Program Data and the App's Data in my User directory. I still can't get the config to open
using windows 7 ultimate here with .NET 4.0 installed and a fresh install of Objectdock Plus 2. Everything is working fine and no problems encountered with the settings at all. As for needing Objectdock Plus 1.9 installed as well, i can say that in my case that is not the case. I only installed version 2.0 after a fresh format and Win 7 install. Hope you get your issues worked out soon mate
I did a fresh install just a few weeks ago, so this must be due to some setting in my system or an interaction with another file.
I'm trying to find out what 'happens when you click 'Configure ObjectDock'. Maybe another installed file is interfering, although I don't know what it might be. If it needs Internet access, maybe there is an issue with resolving the proxy. I guess I'm going to have to wait it out with StarDock to reply to my report ticket. it's starting to drag on and no reply yet!
Are you also using the Dell Dock? If so, try shutting it down to see if there is some sort of conflict.
No Dell dock
If you haven't found a solution to this problem yet, I figured out a way that worked for me. I forgot where I found it, but I opened a log for Objectdock that reported errors and found that my Arial font was apparently messing up the settings menu because it was corrupted for some reason. This seems to happen a lot because as soon as I searched generically for the Arial font being corrupted, I saw that tons of different programs don't work.
Try to find a non-corrupted Arial font on the web and copy into your fonts folder in the Windows filesystem. I used this one to overwrite my Arial font: http://sourceforge.net/projects/corefonts/files/the%20fonts/final/arial32.exe/download?use_mirror=voxel
I found this out with literally no help from Objectdock support, I might add.
