Click the button in the Preview area. In the right tree view area, click Visibility to expand the list. That's what you're looking for.

I thought you were just using that as an example. I had no idea you could have a window with no close button. I've never seen one.

Let me restate that......... I've never seen a window that couldn't be closed with a close button. If a window didn't actually have one, the visible close button wouldn't do anything. So I'm still confused. What sort of window doesn't have a close button?

Use visual styles for a while and you will see which windows don't have them. Also could I get some help rather than resistance? What purpose does it serve to give me resistance? I must be blind then because I haven't found it yet in skinstudio either that or I don't have the right version (and I can't upgrade because my subscription ran out recently and I don't have the money yet). So could someone PLEASE tell me the setting so I can manually put it in instead of giving me the run around? If you don't know the setting or are unable to help say so and forever hold your peace. Before you go tell me that all buttons have visibility settings go look and see if you can find the settings for the close button.

Why wouldn't "always visible" work?

I didn't find it because it's not there. I asked on the skinstudio newsgroup and I was told (by Greenreaper) that the function isn't in WB. So there's no way it could be in skinstudio considering that. Are you telling me that you are seeing the option in there? You're obviously not understanding what I am trying to do. And no one has provided any proof that it is in there. What I want is to have a disabled button (not to be confused with out of focus) for the close button when there is not one and have that disabled state only show if there is a min or max button present. I've looked in skinstudio many times and it has not presented it'self. So either I have really bad eyes or it's not there.

The top one is classic, middle is MS Styles, Bottom is WB (with a theme I'm working on). So I tried setting the visibility on the close button to not show if there is no min or max button before but it also stopped showing on windows that have neither but still have a close button which isn't what I wanted it to do and both classic and MS Styles do it. So I need visibility options for the close button it'self. Understand now? I want to set it so if ANY button is present the disabled buttons show up disabled but if there is no button none show up. But I get conflicting reports, Frogboy says there are lots of visibility options, greenreaper said last night that WB doesn't have the feature yet. So I'm just going to have to wait (more).

And BTW, yes WB does show a close button on that type of window (as you could see) and that's because it doesn't have the visibility option (as far as I know, according to Frogboy there are a lot of visibility options) the close button on the WB shot does work. However the point here is not to say that since it works then I should be forced to have it when all other systems have the other options. On WB it obviously sends a close message to the window but that works because there is a close function on the window even on the 2 first shots (which is any of the push buttons in the dialog it'self). When you push close on WB it assumes a negative answer to the dialog question.

Like I said, I only ask a question when\if I already tried the alternatives such as faking it. Right now I just have it always showing but *I* want to add the function.

Oh and BTW I didn't remember the windows off the top of my head because I don't use MS Styles or classic all the time to find out. And I didn't feel I needed to as a prerequisite for a person tp tell me the visibility option setting to stick into my UIS file if it indeed exists. All I want is a simple "this is the setting... *and then the person says the setting*" or if the person knows for sure that the setting is not in WB yet they say something to the effect of, "It's not currently in WB yet". Or if they don't fit either of first two they say nothing at all.

Hold on guys. I think I'm beginning to grasp what he wants to do. Are you creating a Mac theme? If so, and you want the button to be clear when you're not mousing over it, just set the regular image of the button to be clear, and then when you mouseover it, have it change to the coloured version. You dont need any visibility crap at all. Assuming thats what you want to do.

I appologize for completely misunderstanding you at the beginning, but if you hadn't been so unwilling to answer questions so that we might understand, this thread wouldn't have gotten like this. We're generally a friendly bunch. We like helping, and figuring things out.....  If we had said nothing, wouldn't you have thought you were being ignored?

Yes there is CerebroJD and I showed you an example. If you are STILL unclear then there is no clearing things up for you, sorry.

I.R. I only asked the question because I *tried* the alternatives (which don't work the way I want them to especially just leaving it as it is (always visible)) like I said and I came here as a last resort to find out the specific visibility number that you have to put into the UIS file to get the setting which I was looking for but I have since then found out that it's not in WB yet. This was a specific question which required specific information. I reserve questions for after I've tried the alternatives. And I don't even ask very many questions this is the only question in a long while that I have asked.

And for the last thing since you don't like this function then there most likely other features in my skins that you probably won't like. But that's ok I don't need everyone to use them.

Anyway this should be closed as far as I'm concerned because there is no answer to this as there are no alternatives that are satisfactory (to me) other than leaving it as it is until the function is put in.

I'm no more enlightened after all this than I was starting off to begin with. The only reason why I asked this question in the first place is because I mentioned how I'm still waiting for the function to be put into WB and frogboy said that there are many visibility functions in WB including the ones I'm looking for however I could not for the life of me find them in skinstudio so I was hoping that someone here would at least know the visibility number so I can manually put it into the UIS file. But now I'm sorry I even brought it up.

BTW, I.R. you do have a good question and that is "why are we trying to help you", you obviously don't know the answer (and how could you the function is not in WB yet). So WHY are you trying to "help"?
