Impulse does not need to be opened in order to run ObjectDock.

Have you looked into Impulse to see just what it does?

Sadly I didn't see it before buying.

I just don't want to install download managers of any kind. It's my work computer, it's so precious to me, I don't want to install anything but indispensable stuff.

First let me point out that OD2.0 is a BETA.  IMO, using any beta software on a work computer is unwise unless absolutely neccessary.

Second, since it is  a work computer software/system requirements should get more than a passing glance (if that).

Bottom line, do some research into what you are putting on your work computer before you purchase or install it.

Btw,Impulse is stable,fast and effective in updating or reinstalling your software.  Try it and after OD is out of beta,and final, uninstall it if you wish.

Remember, guys....the one forum section that is required to be pure 'assistance' without the 'condemnation' is the "Stardock Support" forum.

alvaroduranm ... it's unfortunate that you failed to check the requirements of the product install, namely that Impulse is necessary for the product install [and updating], however others are probably correct in that since it is your 'work computer' and 'precious' to you you really should have clarified what exactly was required and subsequently evaluated whether you wished to proceed.

You can [still] install Impulse....dl and install Objectdock and then uninstall Impulse, however the last 'step' is pointless as Impulse is necessary for product updates/revisions.

Stardock's installer [Impulse] is by no means the only Installer/updater program used by software Manufacturers - most software typically comes with separate [but included] installer/updaters, Stardock's is simply amore intelligent way to do it.....the ONE installer handles all of Stardock's software/product....

I'm sorry, but I have to agree that I don't see the necessity for an additional piece of software just to do a download. That and my inability to get Impulse to give me what I actually bought--it downloaded ObjectDock v 1.90 not the 2.0 beta--is frustrating and annoying. Why can't Stardock just give me a link to the software's setup file?

RedneckDude is correct, follow what he suggests and you should see the beta available for download in Impulse under the My Software.tab.
