Skinning Question - Frame, Close Button & Trans

Is there a way for the Close Button to overlap the right non-ppx edge/frame and be 'in front of' the frame? Perhaps a setting I don't know about?

The button has 6 states but the frame only 2. I have a skin which just looks a whole lot better if the button hugs the edge of the window, but if I use magic pink trans for the portion of the frame 'overlapped' by the button, that portion of the button is just 100% transparent. If I 'match' the right edge of the button in the frame itself, that portion can only be active or inactive so on mouseover the portion of the frame that 'dummies' the button doesn't change.

I have a feeling this is a limitation of non-ppx frames but figured I'd ask before I go to plan B. Thanks.

The best way to do that would be to copy the piece of underlapping frame and use it with the button itself. Just make sure to save as a .bmp if your button canvas is competely filled with the background. Once that's done and the button is positioned, you should have no probs with alpha because there won't be any.

Also keep in mind that even though UIS2 frames are more flexible, they can also be more difficult to work with. Some of the titlebar buttons get a bit twitchy when working with png files.

Thanks, Neo. For whatever reason, the problem was gone when I logged on this morning after redoing the frame to 'match' the button. Even though other portions of the frame have magic pink trans, using anything other than magic pink in the area underlapping the button seems to fix it & in all states all of the button remains in the foreground. Seems to be a quirk of using magic pink in the area of the frame 'under' the button.
