Multimonitor Bug

Hi,

I'm using ObjectDock Plus V2 with a 3 monitor setup under Win7 x64. The one in the middle is #1, the right one is #2 and the left one is #3. Whenever I try to put a dock onto my 2nd monitor via Settings->Position->Change monitor, the dock get's set onto monitor #3. Impossible to select monitor #2.

Does anyone have a solution for this problem?

BTW. monitor #1 and #2 run on an ATI HD5870 while monitor #3 runs on a NVidia 8400 GS.

try putting your middle monitor on the 5870 and run the secondary monitors on the 8400. you could have a driver conflict causing your issue.you could run all three monitors from the 5870 and utilize the eyefinity feature. this would possibly fix the issue because you will not be running nvidia and ati drivers on the same machine and other benefits are reduce power consumption and heat generation in your system. At least get the secondary monitors running on the 8400 and the primary on the 5870.

The middle monitor (#1) is on the HD5870. Eyefinity (and thus using the displayport of my HD5870) is not an option because you either need a monitor natively supporting displayport or you need an active displayport adaptor.

ObjectDock is the only application (currently installed on my machine) having problems with this setup.

did you resolve your issue? you might want to pick up a cheap ati card to run the secondary monitors. although objectdock is the only app having an issue, but i have run across some strange issue when running ato and nvidia drivers on the same computer, just about as many times have have seen computer that never had an issue... best of luck, let me know how it all turns out...

Since we're on multi monitor systems, can anyone tell me this?

My GFX card has an HDMI out, a DVI out, and a VGA out. Yet I can only get 2 monitors to work at a time.

nVidia GeForce 220 GT Cuda

1 GB DDR3 Win 7 64

A little late, but maybe you will get this. I think because the HDMI and the DVI share the connection, if I am wrong then it's probably because the card shuts one of the connections down so as not to make it work over time drawing images. ATI shares connections with the DVI and the display port, so i tend to think that it is the same with the DVI and the HDMI

RedneckDude - In that case, get another nvidia card to run the other monitor. I have a GTX 260 for the primary and a 8800GT running my other two monitor, but you can use a cheap card if you want. Unless your trying to do multi-monitor gaming. I have a second rig with two t$30 cards and they work fine if i ran three monitors, which I do sometimes.

Also you can get a USB to VGA adapter if you want, I did that one time using USB 2.0 VGA Adapter

Mirau - I suggest that you do one of the following

The 5870 has either (1) 2xDVI 1xHDMI 1xMiniDisplayPort or (2) it has 6xMiniDisplayPort

In either case you should be able to connect 3 monitors easily. The card that has the DVI connector, I believe you need to use the MiniDisplayPort for the third monitor. I think the DVI and the HDMI share that same connection to the GPU.

In either case you need to make sure your monitors have the MiniDisplayPort connector.

If this is not the case than i suggest to you that you replace your secondary card with an ATI card and use this card to run the secondary monitors. Make sure that the 5870 runs the middle monitor and the other ATI to run the other monitors.

Running ATI and Nvidia driver on the same machine can cause strange things to happen. I have seen some of my users have a whole slew of issues because of the mix drivers and I have also seen users with absolutely no issues. I have also seen people have some really strange issues because of the mix drivers. From the sound not working to resolution for all monitors limited to 640x480. I have also seen where one monitor would have the limitation and the other monitor not.

Really? Cool! How do you run a monitor from a USB port...lol.

Don't I need a SLI capable mobo to use 2 graphics cards? (Excuse me if I sound stupid, I am...)

I used it for a time and it worked fine for me, you just have to make sure you run the same resolution on all your monitors. So if you have a varying size of monitors you will have trouble.

I do have different size monitors, but it says it's for text only, not for graphics.

I find that Display Fusion works fine for me.
