I just got back from taking my wife and some friends to the new "Nightmare on Elm Street" movie. It was pretty good I think. My wife was actually scared, then again she scares easy...lol. If I can find one cheap I might pick up a Freddy mask and glove and give her a scare one night soon...hehe.
I thought they could have went into Freddy's background a bit more and I think the movie should have been longer over-all. Plenty of blood and gore though. Sadly, Freddy didn't get "creative" with his kills like he did in some of the other movies. The special affects were obviously CGI. They weren't too "over the top". There were a few scenes you could tell it was CGI but for the most part it looked real. The scenes where you could tell it was CGI were only a split second or two long so it blended pretty well.
The guy that plays "Rorschach" in the Watchmen movie plays Freddy. He does a decent job actually. He's no Robert Englund, but he has potential. I just hope he doesn't get type-cast into these types of roles all the time as I think he has a lot of depth as an actor. They leave the movie open for more so hopefully this movie does well and we can get some longer sequels out of them. The movie is about 90 minutes long.
If you like Horror movies this one is pretty good. If you're a fan of the original "Elm Street" movies go into this one with a open mind and you should have a good enough time.
