Cursor Keeps Changing Back To Windows Default

CursorFX v2.01

OS Windows 7

I can select a cursor using CursorFX and it is 'applied' just fine.

However, as soon as 'do something' such as select a desktop icon or open Explorer or Internet Explorer, it reverts to the Windows default cursor.

This happens whichever theme I select.

Any idea what is turning the CursorFX effect off?

I've been having this problem to some extent too, mostly at start up. Not sure what's causing it.

Try uninstalling, then reinstalling CursorFX. If that doens't help, I'd suggest temporarily disabling any sort of software that can prevent system changes (typically antimalware software) to see if maybe that is interferring.

<highjack - instead of starting a new thread>

I have two different problems with CFX+.

1: In some fullscreen games the cursor disappears if a CFX theme is loaded.

2: and if I the try to load the Windows default cursors, the cursor totally disappears, and will only appear if I apply another CFX theme OR reboot.

Latest CFX+ from Impulse used, on Vista 64bit. (Installed yesterday (Thursday))

same problem with here Snowman

tried to disable cursorFX and even uninstalled it..but after those changes, my default cursor disappears and i have to blindly configure the mouse pointers in control panel..is there any way to uninstall it without affecting your windows default cursor and bring it back to normal??..

im using vista 32x

same thing is happening here...except mine is more temperamental...as soon as i apply a new theme and dont move my mouse it looks changed...as SOON as i move the mouse it reverts back to the windows default. im running windows 7 64 bit...ive tried the ye ole uninstall reinstall but doesn't do a thing...anyone know how to fix this problem?!?

I also have this problem with Cursor FX Plus. The cursor works fine until a reboot when it changes back to Windows default. I then need to reapply the cursor. I'm running Windosw 7 Home Premium.

By the way @danvyandjane...if you go to windows mouse properties and uncheck "allow themes to change mouse pointers" you should not have any more problems when you apply a new theme.

Searching for solution to simialr problem....

64bit W7 - happened between reboots, no added software - maybe recent Windows Update - but couldnt roll back to restore point -

 

Well will keep checking back.

In Win 7 go to Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization > Personalization ( right click Desktop and choose Personalization).

On the left you will find Change mouse pointers click that.

Click on the Pointers Tab and make sure that the Allow themes to change pointers is checked.

You can also use this to reset to Windows aero default mouse pointer should CursorFX get "stuck".

This work around allows me to use CursorFX on Win 7.
