In the next few days you're going to see a host of updates to individual parts of Object Desktop. First ObjectBar 1.21, then DesktopX 1.2 and then WinStyles 1.2.
This is because Object Desktop 2002 is nearly complete. Object Desktop 2002 will be available on CD to subscribers to ObjectDesktop.net for free (other than a modest media/shipping fee).
Over the past year, Stardock has been working to improve the documentation on Object Desktop and its components as well as integrate them together so that they work together more seamlessly. Many times individual parts of them had just too many rough edges to be used together.
To this end, WinStyles is being redesigned to be a true theme manager with a new look and easy to use interface. DesktopX is being sped up dramatically so that users can run it full time without feeling like they're dragging down their system. ObjectBar 1.21 now will share your DesktopX (and all plugins that conform to SDPlugin) plug-ins. DesktopX 1.2 even comes with a new media player that uses less memory than other media players while being much more flexible than anything out there since DesktopX objects can interact with it.
Stardock is also working on a single master control program, a low level service that allows all the Object Desktop components to share the same system hooks which will improve performance further.
Stay tuned, many new updates about to come your way...
