Hi all!
I finally decided to get Children of the Nile complete (CotN&Alexandria), especially since it was on sale.
anyways, everrything seems pretty smooth with going to the paypal site to pay.
After I installed Impulse, I did not see my purchases. Nothing but a few default free programs showing and no "Games" tab.
I tried registering my purchases, that did not work because I had no codes sent to me in email and the registration requires a code. I had no codes...
I think I am pretty quick most times and found where I can have my codes sent to me. When sent, it shows no purchases so no codes. I scratched my head and said Hmmm..
Well it seems that my payment via paypal changed my email address to my paypal email address. Ok , I can create a new account in impulse but wait I don't want to do that. so I searched a bit and found the merge accounts.. woohoo that worked, I can see my purchases waiting patiently for me to download.
So, I start my downloads 1st COTN, it says invalid code.. It seems that Impulse automatically had a registration code assigned when showing up in my games tab. This code was _incorrect_ and reported as an invalid code. Meanwhile Alexandria is downloading in the background and is waiting for CotN to install.
So, CotN is not installed, arrrggg.. I go back to have my codes sent to me again now that I have fixced the email issue and now it shows the CotN & Alexandria install codes. The CotN Code was different than those automatically sent to Impulse. A simple copy and paste later and CotN is installing and bam, the downloaded file is corrupt. Delete and re-download we get installed and running. off to Alexandria....
Alexandria has already downloaded prior to CotN finishing the install and by time I exit the CotN installation (~1 min.) Alexandria shows as Installed and ready to play. Nope, we are not done yet... For whatever reason the game reported an error (sorry for not writing it down) and said a re-install should fix the problem. Uninstall and re-install and it seems to be working fine.
No problems now and I seem to have it running.
I would have rather played the games than to spend 4 hours, yes 4 hours to get everything installed.
I would suggest to Stardock to fix the wrong code being sent to Impulse. And try to identify how or why the account process changed to my paypal address. Perhaps the form should have both, email address for stardock/impulse and a separate paypal email address. It is possible that his is my fault by not reading something clearly or something not clear in the purchasing/checkout area.
