tabbed dock and dock

hi there,

I just got OD plus. Playing around with it.

I see lot of tabs in the top. Then there is this dock at the bottom.

Under General, Applications, Office, Internet, Media there are some files.

a couple of questions:

1. If we can do all by tabbed dock, why we need the bottom one?

In other words how best to use both top and bottom.

2. is there a way we can connect both top and bottom ones. For example, if I click on General on top one, the bottom one should open them.

3. what is task grouping?

What you see is one tabbed dock and one zoomer dock. You can use both or just one or you can have multiples of both. Open up ObjectDock configuration and click on My Docks on the bottom left hand side. Just make as many additonal docks of either type as you need or want.

The tabbed dock does what it's name sugguests, it allows you to organize shortcuts by tabs. I use one tabbed dock with five tabs and one zoomer dock which is mainly for docklets.

That article says in the end: "its a simple matter to configure your docks to have one zoomer-dock showing currently running tasks in the middle of the bottom of your screen, with a zooming system tray in the lower-left corner.".

how to configure to show the currently running tasks in zoomer dock?

what is task grouping? is this for zoomer dock so we can group the tasks as one bunch and then separate another group with a separator?

If I save folders in tabbed docks, how to customize their look with a different image? otherwise all I see are few folders that look alike.

OR these tabs are to store only individual files but NOT folders.

To set up running tasks:

Task grouping is when it has a number at the bottom left of an icon on the dock and indicates there is more than one instance of that task open. This feature does not give you additional control over sorting out an arbitrary number of instances of a task... they are all just filed under the same icon.

To give a folder shortcut a different look, you would need to just adjust the icon through the dock entry properties menu. You can store shortcuts to folders, it won't add an entire folder's contents, however.
