IconPackager 5 Guided Tour

IconPackager is a program that allows users to change all their Windows icons by applying themes of icons contained in an “icon package”. There are thousands of icon packages available on the Internet to choose from.

What’s new in IconPackager 5 over IconPackager 4

IconPackager 5 is looking good and I'm enjoying using it. However, it lacks one feature I'd dearly love to see implemented in the near future; and that's the ability to add/include your desktop/start menu shortcuts in the package you wish to apply.

While IP changes many file types and regular desktop icons, it does not change desktop, start menu shortcuts to match the applied package, which can be quite time consuming to achieve uniformity, particularly for desktop shooter in the screenshot gallery.

The ability to browse for and add shortcut items to the package being applied, and then save them, would not only be a massive improvement, but a most welcome option to IP, particularly for screen shotters and those who change their desktops regularly

Anyone else think this would be a great feature/option???

I agree...it certainly would be a plus and a time saver as well. You had a very good idea, starkers, but I wonder if there's a problem doing that as there is with font color, and number color on the calculator...some sort of "hard coding"?

I can't see why. If other apps allow you to browse to various files on your PC, IconPackager should also be able to... then it is just a matter of saving that file/shortcut in the desired package and assigning it an icon. Given that programs/files not covered by IP can be browsed to and assigned an icon via IP it shouldn't be that difficult to achieve. Hopefully this will be given consideration.

The problem I'm having with Iconpackager is changing a single icon in a set. When I choose a different icon it changes that icon with no problem...but it then screws up other icons. For example...I changed an icon for .jpg images and then saved the package and hit apply...then my icon for .zip changed to something else. So how does one change a songle icon without it changing others in the set?

I'd be happy if IconPackager just remembered the last folder it opened. I store my icons in a separate folder outside of IconPackager's default set, and having to constantly re-navigate back is a pain. (If I were smart, I'd put a shortcut in there...)
