I have been pushing for increased control over the showing of prereleases.
This way people who are comfortable with RC builds could say yes to prereleases while not downloading the more beta releases. Right now they can either show betas or not.
I can't promise that this will ever show up (its been on my request list for since before Impulse was released), but I hope it will eventually.
I totally agree Neil. But I can see how this could also be confusing to some people.
I just feel there is a way for people who have already installed a beta product to relate problems back to the developers without having to hash it over here in the forum. No one likes putting up signs saying "we have a problem and are working on it." Sort of like road construction and detours.
Sort of like if you are going to install a beta product you must first register for it and be eligible to recieve such a product. Meaning they are a Object Desktop Ultimate subscriber and understand that this is a beta product they are signing up to use and report problems to whomever is in control of this beta project.
Then we can have a beta support thread on the forum if need be. Plus setup a channel on irc to handle communications with those that are involved.
But all that takes people with a good idea of what all is to do and what not to do. Sort of like rules for a moderator for beta interest at heart.
Plus even a on going thread for beta's being tested and those to be coming soon. Something to keep everyone more informed to what is going on.
Actually what I'm trying to do is stear the beta user's away from the support area. Bring them together at another place and handle things a bit better with the testing and the results and/or the bugs as such.
Your idea is a good one Neil. I just do not think it will happen for reasons of what I think of here. But it sure would be nice to see a change to where we are more organized at the community to handle a project as I've got in mind here.
Whatever you people come up with I'm game and will do whatever I can to help with this for now or anytime in the future.
