Impulse and ..... sdmcp.exe

Well as i have SDC installed on my main PC i can disable sdmcp from launching at startup (still don't really understand the use of it, the only thing i noticed is that system is buggy when running in memory)

As i bought a mini laptop, i didn't install SDC off course, and though i think that it's impulse which is launching sdmcp at startup (am i correct ?). I tried to see in the different options of Impulse but choice to start sdmcp appears nowhere

I also tried to see from where sdmcp is launched and couldn't find it neither in startup programs, neither in services

What kind of miracle is that ? and how can i get read off that silly thing ?

sdmcp.exe allows access to certain system resources to some of the ODNT applications.  Specifically things like the system tray of tasks.  Although I believe SDC installs it, it is also installed by things like DesktopX, ObjectBar, and apps with similar functionality.  You can disable it through msconfig like any other startup item.

Nope, as mentionnrd, it's not present neither in Startup Programs, neither in Services ...

if it's being used by dtx, obar, odock etc (depending on your version) running those will cause it to run

I'm running ObjectDock on both PC's, the main, where SDC & Impulse are installed and where i can disable sdmcp through SDC, and the new mini laptop with Impluse. On the 1st one, sdmcp doesn't run at all without any trouble with objectdock, on the 2nd, sdmcp is permanently in memory and Objectdock is just running the same way (same settings in both cases on ObjectDock). Though, ObjectDock doesn't need by itself to have sdmcp running...

 

Anyway, i want to know how to disable it ...

Hmm, odd that it's running all the time.  Perhaps something else running at startup is calling it up?  If you're only using ObjectDock, you can disable it by deleting the file in C:\Program Files\Common Files
