Since installing Fences, I am no longer able to see the Windows Version on my desktop.

I have modified the registry to set the Show Windows Version on Desktop option on, but it does not show.

I used the TweakUI Powertoy for Windows XP to set it to show, but you could follow the link in this post to the detailed manual process.

Either way, the version information no longer shows now that Fences is running.

Not enough reason for me to discard this fine tool, though.  Even the crashes are tolerable.
