Where can I download stardock central from?

Hello,

I've collected my old objectdesktop files from the stardock server but can't find the stardock central program to download anymore.  When I go to the page that is listed in the email for downloading stardock central, it tells me the page Im looking for doesn't exist, when I try other methods to find it, all I get is a page telling me about Impulse.  I know about impulse but need stardock central to reinstall my old aps that are backup files from stardock central, do I not?

So where can I still download stardock central from please?

Wow...that's an interesting question...have you tried downloading your stuff via Impulse? It should do it for you as far as I understand. Why not give it a try...?

If I remember correctly, the url for the old SDC component manage is: http://sdc.stardock.com/sdcentral_setup.exe

Stardock Central will work for you if you're installing from archives (which is sounds like you are), but if one has a current Object Desktop subscription, Impulse is the only way to get the latest updates.

I have Impulse up and running, but I admit to not being the least bit fond of it (it keeps hanging/failing when trying to update IP v4.1 and SS v6.3). What I can't find in Impulse is how/where to download the WB themes to which I'm entitled as part of my ObjectDesktop subscription. Do I need Stardock Central for that? If not, where do I find them? Thanks in advance.

The skins available to Object Desktop subscribers are downloaded via Impulse, and they are for MyColors.

If you are a subscriber to WinCustomize.com, you are entitled to the premium WB skins, which can be found at the link in post #6.

As far as I can remember, there hasn't been an OD subscriber theme released between when you subscribed and now.  When there is one released, it will show up in Impulse.

What do you mean?  Impulse should work fine in 64 bit.

SDC has closed down per email rec'd yesterday.

Use Impulse...

maybe ask support - but I think they said the applications wouldn't be updated to be accessed by SDC

Impulse is not supported in XP x64, though I'm not quite sure SDC will be fully functional either (not explicitly listed as supported on this platform).

Stardock Central will be unable to download anything from servers, but may still be used to restore archives (much like its predecessor, Component Manager). So whether this will be of use to you depends upon what you are trying to install.

I believe he's referring to Object Dock which was available in a more recent release format on SDC than it is on Impulse. I believe the 1.91i version is what people who use Vista & W7 x64 want. Seems that the system tray works in that release. I'm in the same boat.....I had the alpha but forgot to archive it when I upgraded to W7 x64

I had the alpha but forgot to archive it when I upgraded to W7 x64

Sad thing is I'm in the same boat...I have it loaded on Vista and was going to archive it and install it on my 7...SDC won't allow me to archive anything now.

I've looked around, but am unfortunately not able to find that particular build available. Hang in there and a future build should hopefully have see functionality again

SDC is strictly limited to restoring archives, so the archiving feature will unfortunately not work. You may still be able to relocate your install manually, however.

Hi there!

I am as well in need of Stardock Central to restore the programs that I purchased some years ago, and which I received a link to in a recent email from Stardock Support.  The link to Stardock Central is no longer working, and so I am unable to restore these programs. I thought I could use Impulse, since I understand it's replaced Stardock Central, but it can't read the files I downloaded.

 

Any assistance would be so greatly appreciated!

Unless you have changed your email and or password Impulse should be able to show  all your purchases. 

What are we talking about, games or programs/software?

My question regarding SDC is this. I have a ton of archived apps that were saved through SDC but none of them show up in Impulse and when I tried to restore an app through SDC it said there was a dx.xml. file missing. So is there a way apps archived in SDC can be made to work in Impulse or are these now rendered useless?

SDC can be obtained from here: http://sd.stardock.com/sdcentral_setup.exe

What I would suggest is, if you have apps from SDC that are also available via Impulse, restore them using SDC and then use the archive feature in Impulse to create an Impulse archive file.

To do this, right cilck on the app in Impulse and choose 'Archive Application'. To access where the archive gets saved, hold the shift key and then click the blue ? in the upper right corner of Impulse. Click 'Open Impulse ProgramData folder' and then double click to open the 'Backup' folder.

Do you mean none of the archives, or the applications after they have been restored.  The former will not work, as Impulse will not be able to restore SDC archives.  However, Impulse should see applications restored through SDC as installed and allow you to archive them through Impulse.

I tried that and I get a "dx.xml file is missing" prompt. SCD won't restore anything for me. Been trying to get a working version of DX
