SoundPackager 1.2 Released

Stardock is pleased to announce the release of SoundPackager 1.2.  SoundPackager is an application that lets users change the default Windows sound scheme to one of many available for download.  This is done by applying “packages” of sound files which allows you to easily change to custom sounds without having to change each individual sound file.  Changing to a new sound package just takes a couple of clicks, and restoring to the default Windows sounds is just a click away.

What’s new in this update:

  • Added option to toggle default skin
  • Improved the left panel options for clarity
  • Added Windows Default Sound to Package list
  • Added option to back up existing sound scheme before application
  • Improved sound package restoration

SoundPackager is included with an Object Desktop Ultimate subscription, and also as a stand-alone application for $19.95.  More information, including a free download is available at www.soundpackager.com.

When I open impulse I don't see any updates for this or windowblinds. Impulse shows my version being 1.10.025 last updated 7/24/2008. I do have show pre-releases checked.

It wold be nice if Sound Packager allowed you to use the defaults for other packages. For example, I use Avast and they have a complete set of sounds for their application. However, if I change the sound scheme in SP I have to manually walk through Avast and reselect all of the sounds again. It would be nice to be able to "one click" those sounds for the sound scheme selected. Another good example are the Microsoft Office sounds.

I need more info.

Before you apply the soundpackage, is avast using custom sounds or is it using windows default sounds?

After you apply a package, is avast using the soundpackage sounds or windows default sounds?

 

Lastly, in soundpackager, if you select a soundpackage and go to the editor, do you see avast listed?

In the last/previous version of SoundPackager, on the about screen it showed what the current applied sound package was. Where did this feature go in the current build? Why can we not have the curently applied theme shown right above or below the currently installed themes on the system, or at least highlighted or marked with an (*) asterisk? with 2 dozen schemes installed, to go in and edit the currently applied them , without nowing which one that is, is very hard.
