New user, need product guidance

*I apologize for posting this same message again however I did not notice this section of the forums prior to posting in general*

Hi, I am a new user to Stardock products and I was wondering what product would best help me in organizing my shortcuts and/or desktop icons.

The biggest problem I run into when looking at my desktop, is that newly saved files have such long names that I have to click on them to see the full name. However, there are a number of programs out there that allow the desktop icons to appear as "list" or "tiles" Views. This usually allows you to see the full name of the file. The only issue though, is that the two products I've tried out so far, Objectdock Plus, and Fences beta, cannot accomplish either of these things. Those two programs I chose to try out came very close to doing what I wanted them to, but neither allowed for a full name view of the shortcuts.

If anyone has an idea of what would work, I would be very grateful if you could share your thoughts.

I think you're looking for "Fences" You will be able to organize your desktop very well into different groups that way...

Thank you for the quick response, but I already mentioned that I tried out Fences ^^

Its comes very close to accomplishing what I want it to, but not quite, because of the fact that it cuts off the full name of any application or folder. Some of my paths/folder names are relatively long I need to see the full name of it in order to identify what it is. Maybe, and hopefully, they will make improvements to it as the beta goes on that allows me to do this.

Based on what you want...try RightClick with a shortcut to the Desktop

Then set the Windows Explorer window that comes up to view "Details",widen out the "Name" column to however large you need, then click on "Type"...........

edit: alternately you can set the desktop folder to open like a menu in right click............

same kind of idea would be to add the Desktop toolbar to the windows taskbar and choose to "Hide Desktop Icons"....mucho cleaner desktop

It looks like the program gives you the option to keep those menu's opened at all times, from the screenshots I looked at. How do you get it to do that?
