ObjectDock "My Documents" Limitations?

Can documents only be viewed, and not ADDED, to ObjectDock's "My Documents" file?

Dear People,

 

First, I really love Stardock but am now concerned that it lacks a certainly practicality...

I often write documents in Word, save them to my desktop. Later, I will "drop" it into the "My Documents" icon which is also on my desktop.

I've tried to move documents and drop them in the ObjectDock "My Documents" icon. However, it doesn't go in it. Rather, it is added to the Dock itself.

I've gone through my settings and don't see anything which would pertain to this. Is this functionality only available through ObjectDock Plus? Or not at all? If the latter, it's a considerable disadvantage to its practical use.

I have Object Dock Plus and dragging files to folders does not work their either.  It wants to add it to the dock rather than in the folder.

Turn on lock icons and try again.

What version of OD are you using, free or plus?  What build #?

(I'n on Ubuntu right now so teesting is  . . harder.

Zubaz,

Thanks for getting in on this. I need some clearer direction as to how one would get to a "lock icons" option. Are you refering to an option in ObjectDock or in my computer. I'm not finding one in either location.

I just downloaded the free version of OD. I believe it's the latest: 1.90, Build 536. My OS is Windows Vista Home Premium.

Please advise.

free version = right click any where on the dock > this dock > lock dragging

 

and no it won't help

everything on the dock is a shortcut

everything dragged to the dock creates a shortcut to what was dragged (as long as lock draggin is off)

 

the dock icon shortcuts don't accept drag and drop into their respective folders

Thanks Troll.  Because you can drag files onto apps (Like a txt file onto Word) that you could do the same with folders.  I simply forgot htat you couldn't.

mines been the same way... I had to take my recycle bin off the dock because of it... anyone got an idea...???

Zubaz,

Being able to drag and drop into the ObjectDock files is a clear need. I think it would make for an IDEAL and HIGHLY USEFUL feature to add to the next version. How do I put this request in to the developer? It's a great product and not having this ability creates an unnessesary disadvantage. Please advise.
