DesktopX widgets have lot's of calendars.  If you don't have DesktopX you can look for the fully compiled gadgets that don't require DesktopX to run.  Try searching the DesktopX widgets gallery for adni18.  He has a couple of calendar gadgets in there that work well.

I downloaded a calendar and DesktopX, but that's no what I wanted. I was looking for a calendar that can pop-up from anywhere; with this widget, I have to go to the desktop to see the calendar. In the settings, I tried both Normal and Desktop level but it doesn't work like Microsoft calenar pop-up that pops-up with one click and hides with another.

Thanks, it is indeed what I had in mind; unfortunately when I click on Date and Time, the configuration window is opened (the one with the tabs and Internet Time) instead of the pop-up calendar.

I am looking for the same thing I believe. I was using Windows Sidebar. It has a default calendar gadget that shows the current month. Simple and quick to see without launching some other app. Think "clock face" but in this case "Calendar Face". Seems simple enough - I bet a good programmer could write this in an hour or so.  However, I am not one. :-0

It should be kept simple - I don't need appointment's here. I don't need alarms, reminders, etc... I have Outlook for that.

This could be kinda like the weather docklet. I would see the single calendar page on the object dock I have now. Place your curser over it and up pops the entire current month calendar. Or, better yet, a fan-out with last month, this month and next month. Even better, make it configurable so I can specifiy what the fan out should be. I would choose this month and the next five. OK, so I am a bit needy. but I hope this helps.

I wanted the same little pop up calendar to display when I clicked the calendar dock icon; it defaulted to my outlook calendar.

I found this simple, tiny calendar that I installed and replaced outlook.exe in the config section of the calendar docklet with this application.  Works great.  Maybe it is what you are looking for.

Did anyone ever find a way to access the windows calendar popup that MissOctavia mentioned at the beginning of this topic?  The popup that happens when you click on the system date in the task bar (it shows a calendar and clock).  That popup would be great to use.

Your suggestion creates a shortcut to a window that allows you to change the date/time, I am looking to create a shortcut to the window that displays a calendar and clock and allows you to go forward/backward through months.  It shows up when you click the date in the taskbar.
