Just had to reinstall my operating system and now trying to reinstall windowblinds 6.3, it installs but then I get an error while trying to activate. Installed it using impulse as well as stand alone installer with the same result.
"Search your drive and see if "sig6.bin" shows anywhere."
OK, checking. Haven't restarted yet.
I don't seem to have sig6.bin anywhere.
OK..stop looking. Reboot.
You must reboot on initial WB install and all subsequent updates.

No luck. Only thing that's changed is that now it keeps asking me to reboot again whenever I give up and exit the registration box. I tried using the "use additional process" box and had no luck with that either.
Wanna hear something funny? I have no stable bootloader as a result of minor problems with Linux. I am using an old GAG floppy to boot Windows EVERY time, because it won't actually install, but it works manually EVERY time. I'm getting really fast at it, lol. That was adding to my frustrations earlier.
That's some system.....
Are we talking about the Impulse "box"?
If you want to hear something else funny...it asking for a constant reboot is progress......
Do you have nView enabled?
"Are we talking about the Impulse "box"?"
Well, when I try to run WB from inside Impulse, I get the registration box, which always gives me the error message when I try to register. So, then I close it and I get a box asking me to "reboot now", "I'll reboot later", or "use additional process". It looks more like a WB type box, not Impulse--Says Window Blinds at top and has the WB symbol.
"If you want to hear something else funny...it asking for a constant reboot is progress......"
Kind of figured that.
"Do you have nView enabled?"
nView? What's nView? Resource? Program? Rootkit?
Nvidia dual display mode
I'm guessing I'd have to have an nVidia GPU for that, and I have an ATI Radeon. I don't see anything like that in Services, either. According to ATI Catalyst Control Center, I am only using one monitor. I needed it to tell me that.
Something tells me the problem is hidden in there........somewhere. It's getting late and I can't make sense of it. Perhaps someone sharper then I am right about now can pick out what you're looking at, because I've never seen anything like that.
...at least you still have a sense of humor.....
As info, Stardock can just send you a sig.bin file (it's used for off line registration). One of the Stardockians in the AM will see this and do that if all else fails...
........and I can smell that failure rapidly approaching.
I kind of need to quit and get some sleep, anyway. Thanx for all the help, but I'm gonna quit for the night.
See ya 'round.
Ok....food for thought later:
Are you 'Registering" whatever you bought (under the key tab in Impulse Toolbar) before installing anything? Again, someone else will have to answer what happens if you install first and let it ask for the Reg info, because I've never tried it that way, but my guess would be something akin to the problems you're having.......
Uh....well, I was getting the serial number from "registration" link under "My Desktop," "Window Blinds" in Impulse. However, I didn't use the "Add Registration" link under the "key tab in Impulse Toolbar" until just a few minutes ago. Haven't reinstalled WB since. I just got through "adding registration" and restarting, but had no luck without reinstalling WB.
Do Impulse, Stardock, and WB work through Crossover in Linux, because I think maybe this would be easier if I just ran them in Windows? Just kidding.
I tried uninstalling WB, cleaning the registry with CCleaner, and installing it one more time, but I did not restart (I'm just tired of that). This was the first time I installed WB after "adding registration" under the key in Impulse. Still no go.
I really am going to bed now. I won't be back tonight.
Thanx for sticking with me all this time. I do appreciate the effort.
Alright, I found two Services for Spyware Doctor, set them to disabled also and....long story short, WB started working. Only problem now is that every time I turn those Services back on, WB will not start again upon restart. I have tried to set Spyware Doctor to allow various executables, such as wb, wbload, activate, etc. That hasn't helped so far.
I guess this is becoming a PC Tools problem.
Only way this is going to work is if the Services for Spyware Doctor are turned off basically all the time. I did a little search on the Internet and it seems to me that Stardock/Object Desktop/whatever knows that their software does not work with MANY (probably most) protection software. I have to say that's just crap. We're sure as heck not told that BEFORE we pay for it. I'm not going to just run this computer with no security like some teenie bopper without a clue.
You're trialware runs just fine with all my security turned on. Gee, isn't that a coincidence. Whay the j*(&^ can't you just make the paid for version do that to?
For the record, I am registered now. Lot of good it will do me.
