ohhh one i can sort of answer

so if I am not mistaken, the stripes between appgroups depends solely on the background you choose for your object dock...some have stripes on the separators and some don't.

As far as drive C vs drive K...I played around with this on sysmetrics as well...someone could probably explain it a lot better...but I copied my macro/script that was showing the C: drive and modified it everywhere I found a reference to C:\ and replaced it with the correct path...you have to use the sysmetrics configure tools...
