What do I need to run my Desktop Earth Dream???

I paid SD for the Desktop Earth dream a few months ago and recently decided to run it again. I had SD send me a mail link to the Dream itself and can get that no problem, but now, apparently, I have to buy the actualy DeskScapes program to run the dream?!?!? What kind of BS is this?

I'm running Vista Ultimate 64 and tried downloading the 1.0.2 version which told me I had to pay and then installed 2.0 which told me the same. I should be able to run the dream that I paid for without having to pay for the program as well. Can anyone help? Thanks.

No, that's BS. I paid the 8.95 for the dream and was able to run it without having to pay for anything else when I did. It even states, directly on the site:

"Windows Vista Ultimate users do not need to purchase DeskScapes to run dream files. Just download the free version from here."

If you have Vista Ultimate, you need to install the 1.02 version. Make sure you completely uninstall any other versions before installing. Even make sure to delete any folders that might have been left.

I did all that. I removed the 2.0 that I installed first because of it telling me I had to pay to use the desktop Earth. When I installed 1.0.2, it still tells me I have to pay to use it. It won't even let me run the 3 bundled dreams that come with it! It tells me I have to pay to run them!!!!

It took me a few minutes to find the thread where I originally posted this.

If you have had the preview installed and then installed Deskscapes or have updated from 1 version of DeskScapes to another, try this and see if it will fix your problem.

Uninstall deskscapes.
After uninstalling deskscapes, manually delete the "C:\ProgramData\Stardock\Deskscapes" directory and the "C:\Program Files\stardock\object desktop\deskscapes" directory if the uninstall process didn't delete them.
Reboot.
Install the free, 1.0.2 version of Deskscapes that Island Dog linked to in reply # 3.
Reboot.
At this point it should work.

If at this point you get the same error that you have refered to, you have somehow installed the preview instead of the free version for Vista Ultimate.

I am having an issue similar...

1.2 will not allow dynamic dreams to run such as waterdream/desktopearth/watercolour, the ones you get with 2.0, however since my expired sub if I select those dreams in 2.0 they don't run... nothing, just get a black desktop or frozen still image of a previous non dynamic dream.

I have tried both 1.2 and 2.0, both play normal dreams without issue, but both will no longer play dynamic dreams having reinstalled on my vista ultimate 64 system, don't think it's a codec issue, maybe a dll issue after constant install/uninstall- removing folders and registry entries?

Recently I tried the updated waterdream from dreamer, however that always gave me the error message about being unable to load the dll error 126 i think...

However, that no longer happens, just no dynamic dream functionality..

any clues?
