As part of my routine maintenance, I perform tasks such as Disk Defragmenting, Registry Error checking, and Disk Error Checking. But what I HATE about Vista's error checking is that there is no screen when it performs the scan. After the startup screen, it stayed on a black screen for more than 15 minutes, and I couldn't wait any longer. The Hard Drive light was on, but i'm the kind of person who doesn't like waiting. But more importantly, is it even doing anything?
Once you start the scan, you can't stop it.
I wonder how much longer it takes when you scan for bad sectors. Maybe if Vista had a progress bar or something, maybe I would know how long it would take to scan. Are there any 3rd Party disk error checking utilities for Vista that would take much less time to scan (not to mention displaying actual errors)? It's because of this is why i'm not using Vista right now. Maybe I should just learn a little patience...
