Trik untuk meningkatkan kecepatan internet

Secara default Windows (Win XP Pro dan 2000) sebenarnya juga mengurangi bandtwith kita sebesar 20%, 20% ini digunakan window untuk mendownload update untuk window. Berikut langkah untuk menghilangkan pengurangan bandwidth tersebut :

Klik Start->Run->ketik"gpedit.msc" (tanpa tanda ") Ini akan memunculkan tampilan "Windows Policy". Kemudian masuk ke : Local Computer Policy–>Computer Configuration–>Administrative Templates–>Network–>QOS Packet Scheduler kemudian di tampilan kanan pilih "Limit Reservable Bandwidth", disitu tertulis "Not Configured" -> doubel klik (ada tampilan baru, "Limit reservable bandwidth Properties").

Jika ingin tahu keterangannya buka di bagian "Explain". Di situ tertulis keterangan windows secara default menggunakan 20% bandwidth kita. Kembali ke "Setting" dan pilih "Enabled" lalu ganti 20 % menjadi 0%.

1 in every 30 people speaks Indonesian so it's hardly obscure.

The basics: You can apparently improve the speed of your internet connection by reducing the amount of bandwidth Windows Update uses - the default, according to Bryan, is 20%. Cut that back to 0% and you'll fairly rocket along. His directions are fairly self-explanatory I think.

Anyone know if this actually works/is a good idea?

I never said the language was obscure . . but it is rather uncommon on this site.   

In that regard, I guess Zubish is more used.

Just wondering .. How would I do that ? Not being to tech minded , I have'nt a clue !

Phoon wonders what hat that statistic was pulled from. Hell, in my neck of the woods I would be hard pressed to find 30 people that knew where it was on a map!

Let me try it..
By default Windows (Win XP Pro and 2000) actually reduce your bandwidth by 20%, this 20% will be use by Windows to download its update. Below are steps to lessen that allocated bandwith:

Click Start->Run->Click"gpedit.msc" (without ") . Windows Policy will pop-up, Navigate to "Local Computer Policy"->Computer Configuration->Administrative Templates->Network->QOS Packet Scheduler ..Right window choose "Limit Reservable Bandwidth", there it should set at "Not Configured" -> double click (New window will pop-up, "Limit reservable bandwith Properties").

If you need information about this open up the "Explain" part. It explain by default windows uses 20% of our bandwidth. Return to "Setting" and choose "Enabled" and change 20% to 0%...

Note: If you do not see a complete tree under Computer Configuration - Administrative Templates you may have to add the templates by clicking Action, Add/Remove Templates.
Click Add, then scroll down the list. Double Click on system.adm. I'm not sure if SP3 hid these or if some other tweak I had done hid them.

That's a shame. It stands to reason though - chances are you'd want to download the updates anyway, so you'd only get a speed boost when you have the chance to download but don't because you haven't given it any bandwidth to do so. Kind of a false economy I guess.

Worry no more, it's simple maths - Indonesia has a population of about 220 million. There are a little over six billion people in the world. 220 million/six billion is (very roughly) about 1 in 30.

The parochial nature of your neighbours is troubling, but don't despair - just as only you can stop forest fires, only you can bring the lamp of knowledge into the darkness of ignorance. The first step is communication. You can figure out the rest with the help of community groups.
