Remote desktop with OD+

Hello, I am having a problem with remote desktop access. My PC at work has OD+, and when I try to connect to it from outside (via remote desktop), I have no work space. I know that I can login since I can move mouse cursor. But, the whole desktop blacks out.

I am using XP-professional.

Try hiding/docking and see if that works better.

Another option is to create a batch file that turns off OD and set that to run on remote connect.

Thanks for your tip. After reading your response, I tried to adjust a few things, and finally I realized that it was sysMetrix. Once I killed it, remote desktop worked alright. Thanks!

I got a better fix. The reason that sysMetrix was a trouble was that its graphic (clocks) resolution (more than 24 bit) is much higher than the client RDT resolution (16 bit max). Hence, when I logged into the RDT, the system became unstable (16 bit color resolution would not be able to render 24 bit clock).

Besides, the desktop icons' quality was very low.

So, I thought that if I get 24 bit or more color resolution on the Remote computer, connection wouldn't be a problem.

For the record:
execute regedit.exe and go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\WinStations\RDP-Tcp
And change color depth to 4, which is 24bit color depth.
