Okay so the tutorial thingy referred to in the other thread did end up
helping more than I thought it would. Turns out this really shouldn't be too difficult.
Couple questions, though... Here's what I'm actually working with..
(Oops, that wasn't the right link -fixed) ...
SidebarAfter some fiddling around I've gotten it to resize when the resolution changes and all be on screen and such. Yay! However, it still looks
slightly odd in some resolutions... not terrible, but not quite right. It just looks a bit... fat in certain resolutions. (This is my first time
using a widescreen monitor and I've only had it a few days, so this may just be a monitor thing. I notice my normal windows look a bit
stretched in certain resolutions as well).
The original was made with my knotwork program on a 1280x1024 background - so the actual object is 1024 pixels tall. If I make it into an
object that resizes to 100% height and display it at 1680x1050 (my usual res.), it looks just right. But if I change the resolution, some look
okay, some don't. Oddly, it looks crappy at 1280x1024, which doesn't really make sense to me.
Basically I just want it to all be onscreen and look proper regardless of resolution. Is that possible? This is just a background, so there
is no worry about moving buttons and such at the moment. If I use the .bmp version and set it as a wallpaper, it resizes fairly well, so I feel
like I should be able to do a bit better, but I'm not sure how to get DX to resize it correctly.
Any thoughts? Do I need to make my original a different size or something? Or make a widescreen version and a normal version? (Bah-
monitors should be standardized darnit!)
And, if so, how would I adjust the ratio so it looks right? I've toyed around a bunch and just not
getting the result I'm looking for.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
