That's why I wanted to be sure and post down wind of you


There is NO downwind.... curried cabbage gas is like radioactive fallout... it can travel upwind, downwind and 'crosswind, not to mention through thin walls and doors.

the fuel bill on my personal vehicle (it's a pickup, I live in Texas; everyone drives a pickup in Texas) is close to $100 a month


Hell even last year I used to spend that much a week in my pickup. And that was when gas prices were about $1/gallon cheaper then they are now. About $4/gallon here in upstate NY now. It would almost make me glad that I won't be able to get my license back for another year, if it weren't for the fact that 99% of the time I was putting my fuel on a work card

Our car runs on LPG so we are paying 68 cents a litre. Unleaded petrol hit $1.60L here in bendigo today.
makes me happy that we outlaid the $1500 for LPG conversion.

Being in NW Indiana we are too close to Chicago to get cheaper gas. I'm using the Geo Metro. I can still fill it up for 20 bucks. Doesn't get much better than that. I don't go much over 50 miles an hour on RT. 30. When I go to the McDonalds or Burger king I park the car and go inside. I don't burn up gas while waiting for the food. If I have to wait for a train I turn the car off. I combine trips to the store. Etc Etc What else can you do?

FrogBoy, Perhaps a direct human interface with an LP vehicle would work then.

I got one of those... a missus who complains about too many curried cabbage induced Sou'-Westerlies, hehe.

Shouldn't it be: "He/she who is without sin (gas) cast the first stone!!" ??

Well....THAT's relative.....

When you take a wee trip to Oz...and discover  we have real distances to travel to get just about anywhere...and look at that $1.50+ per Litre ....

You know....there was [maybe still is] a traffic light in Oz.....that's 700km away from the nearest next one...

And to top it off, it's cheaper to fly from the East coast to New Zealand than it is to the West coast of our own country....

its over $4 a gal here now I'm in NorCal and the county next to ours on that map is 'High Red', it should be updated cause we're in that top mark now too

And to top it off, it's cheaper to fly from the East coast to New Zealand than it is to the West coast of our own country...


...and with a bit of shopping around, you can fly to England/Europe cheaper than taking the train to Perth from anywhere on the East coast... so with high petrol prices at present, a trip on the space shuttle would be cheaper than driving it.
