Oh wait you had a software question. It's like Fuzzy said it's your OS install. All Stardock programs that are shown to be compatible with Vista Ultimate 64 should install without a hitch. Check the Stardock programs page to ensure your installing the correct versions. Here's the link in case you don't know where to start looking WWW Link

You can also use SDC to check on release info. For example click on Object Desktop in SDC then click on Icon Packager and finally look for the word History in red at lower right and click on it. You will see this in the version history release notes:

Object Desktop is a collection of programs/applications. Each program has it's own version #. If Vista is installed correctly and you use Stardock Central to install the different applications, then you will only receive the Vista version(s) of the programs.

I would suggest a reboot AFTER each installation and BEFORE running the installed program. I would also suggest NOT running the programs from Stardock Central but from the Start Menu like the other software on your computer.

Hi daygo. My instructions for how to validate the installed version of the various Object Desktop programs are clear enough for most computer users to follow. As I recall in a prior thread, you had indicated you have Vista Ultimate 64 installed on your machine. That is an OS for a compter savy power user.  

Might I suggest that if you like skinning your desktop that you consider using MyColors instead? It applies the theme directly using runtime versions of Stardock programs. Easy to use just register, download and click apply and your desktop will be themed for you. As an owner of Object Desktop you will receive discounts on the professionally developed themes you decide to purchase. And, you can keep you Object Desktop programs as well.

This will give you time to learn more about your computer, your OS and how to manage your programs. I think you need some Vista computer classes.  

If you struggling with basic things like putting shortcuts on your start menu, you shouldn't be messing with desktop customization. These programs are not for beginners.

Ok, When you say "do not know how the ones that are on the start menu, got there, there are 4 of them at present, would like at least 4 more", that is windows just being windows. You can adjust how many total programs are on the left pane but, windows chooses which programs go there by frequency of your use.



This wasn't meant to be an insult. Your statements and questions indicate this. There are other ways to access your programs, including basics such as placing shorcuts on your desktop. I, however, do not intend to go into the details of how to go about this.

Explore your own computer and look for any tutorials or help files your computer maker supplied. Check out microsoft.com.

Fuzzy, I think, is trying to indicate many of your questions and statements are really outside the scope of these forums and just indicate you are very much a novice. It's no big deal. Go learn.

What he NEEDS is to take a basic computer course so that he can (hopefully) understand how things are supposed to work. Until he has the basics and understands the basics it doesn't matter if it's easy or not so easy, he will still have USER errors.

you are all forgetting one small itsy bitsy thing, i cannot at present access any programmes from object desktop, except the ones i have just recently put on my desktop, ( through sdc that is )

And besides you, what is stopping you from accessing Object Desktop programs? A little while ago 4 of your Object Desktop programs were appearing on yout start panel and you were wondering how this occurred and how could you get more to appear. I responded:



You can also readily find this sort of information in windows help files which are already on your computer and any Windows tutorials you may also find there. Putting shortcuts on your desktop is a simple windows task that all windows tutorials explain. I'm sure that information is also already on your computer if you look for it.
