Objectdock is IN the way of other aps

Ok, Objectdock is groovy and even cool, but I am finding it annoying when it un-autohides too quickly... I have set it to unautohide as slowly as it can, (still it is less than a second) but I still end up opening applications inadvertantly when I hit the back button on my browser, or the scroll button or whatever. How is everybody getting around this, or tolerating it? I'm about to bail on this software, which will make me sad.

I keep the edges of my program windows a little off the edge of the screen where I have docks. I don't run apps with the window maximized. In other words, I set my screen up so that I'm not having to get my mouse right next to the edge where a dock is.

As I read this it seems a dash snitty, but it's not intended to be, that's just how I keep the docks from popping up.

I use a top zoomer and a left side tab dock and usually do what DaveRI does. There are only one or two apps that I will run in full screen. It's easy for me because I have a 22" monitor and run in wide screen mode.

Like Phily0381 I also use a 22" widescreen monitor so it works out that I have enough space to give up a couple of inches on the right side of the screen for docks and other things I like to have in view all the time (rss, clock, weather, etc.).

I like to be able to run all apps maximize so I don't have to mess with resizing windows all the time. To do this I made an empty dock set it to full transparent, no autohide, set it to reserve the screen edge and located it about 2 inches from the right edge.

Then when I maximize a window it stops at the transparent dock location and leaves the right edge of my screen open to the desktop for other things.

Haha, I used to get as frustrated as you fotoboy. Not to the point of almost ditching the program (because I love it), but it was so aggravating to open up unwanted programs. I use the tactic DaveRI mentioned. It still happens with me from time to time, but I think as you increasingly dislike the problem, the more careful you become to not accidentally sneak that mouse to the edge of the screen in practice. I still have moments of pure rage when it happens repeatedly. Interruptions suck! But yes, in summation try keeping those windows off the edge of the screen a little bit if that isn't a problem with how you like working.

I don't use autohide, and I seldom maximize windows (I don't like the way maxed windows look with the sides, and bottom chopped off.... ick, ugly). I use the reserve screen edge setting for the rare occasion when I do max a window.

I use "hide in background when not in use." I have a bottom dock, a top tabbed dock, and a side dock which is used as a system tray. The delay to bring the dock back is set fairly short, and my side system tray dock is set to only activate when it is clicked on.
Using only top and bottom docks has kept them out of my way, and I run all of my programs with maximized windows. No complaints!
