Wrong icons for wrong programs

Hello, just updated to 3.99 but i've had this problem before that & i most certainly dislike iconpackager from now on.
My problem is, i build my own little icon package by selecting which icons i want for certain folder, files, etc. When i save/apply, most of the icons gets put on the wrong folder/program. For example, you might see a folder icon on the hard disk, IM icon on the floppy drive and so on.. which wasn't what i selected in the first place.

Now i start all over again correcting the icons but then it gets messed up again after i hit save/apply. This is so annoying.
I'm starting to hate the stardock programmers, grr

Any help appreciated.

Ok, for anyone having a similar problem... i simply disabled AUC (vista hp 32bit) & it works better. I hope this helps anyone else.

No. The same problem here. But... I'm using XP 32Bit.
And it shows me (since I've installed the latest beta) the XP standard icons for my DVD-Drives
with every theme I apply. If I change the icons manually they show only correct since the next restsrt.

Same, but it just started happening after I added some more icons to my "default" package. Now when I load the package who knows what is going to go where. Were I to fix this (if it would stick) I would have to redo just about every icon in the package I have... What's up? This happened after I installed the latest update. Version 3.99.146.

I am on XP Pro 32bit.

EDIT: Three of my "homemade" icon packages are now completely fouled up.

EDIT2: To fix this I deleted my 3 icon packages which I used as a real one and 2 test ones. I also deleted the base icon package (the one I used to start with). That had gotten fouled up as well. I downloaded the base package again, installed it and filed in the gaps for the files that didn't have icons with a new package based on the downloaded one. I just saved it as a new package. It's back working again but we'll see how it goes as I add more icons here and there as I find them. It will be a pain if I have to keep doing this.

EDIT3: Just an update a day later. Package is fouled up again. I didn't edit it at all just restarted my computer this morning. IP files now have ini icons, vbs files now have help icons, asp files now have WBA icons and so on. Looking at the package in IP I would say about 25% are out of whack. No ryhme or reason (like the next one over is wrong from the next one etc) just different icons wrong for different file types. Random.

EDIT4: Tried to put the icons back from the same package. Saved it and now about 75% of the icons are off. The only way to fix this to create a new package and add my icons to it for each file extention from scratch as I did in EDIT2.

But I bet once I reboot they will be messed up again. What you guys don't work on Sundays!!!111!! j/k of course.

Any update on this? Any SD folks ask about it? Just curious because it still is a problem for me so it’s not really worth reassigning icons every time I start my computer which of course means have no need for IP.

I really like IP.

For one I see what you are doing wrong. When you save the set it is saved in a wrong format. This has always been a problem with IP and people not completely understanding how it works. For what you are trying to do you can two things. One being you can replace the icons with what you want it to be and apply the the setting. Do not save the package - it will be corrupted with what you have added. Just change what you want and apply only.
Two - you can use package builder [ which is located at the bottom of the page on the Icons and Cursors tab ] this is a almost seperate program which will let you build the Icon Package with the icons you choose and or even make yourself. Then you can save the package with whatever name you want and it will be ready to use.

Learning how these programs work is not easy at first. But give it a little work and you will see how you can do exactly what you want too.

K thanks got it. What's is the point then of being able to save the package through IP if it is just going to corrupt
the save file? Weird.

Got everything lookin' sweet through the package builder.

One more question though. Isn't an internet shorcut a URL file? I can't get that one to change for me. Is that just one you can't change or do I have the wrong file extension?
