GbpSv.exe (Service for G-Buster Browser Defense) and Objectdock error

Hi, guys!

Well... I've been facing a problem when using Objectdock after installing a security plugin provided by my bank site. I've done a clean install of XP here so that I could identify the reason Objectdock don't work properly (the same happens to Rocketdock).

Indeed, after installing all Windows updates and the softwares I usually load here, Objectdock was working great. However, when loading the page of my bank account, I was asked to install some ActiveX control and after that Objectdock began to fail.

I've checked the services Windows was running and realized that Gbpsv.exe was the one added... that service is a kind of defense the bank uses to increase the protection of the site.

I'd like to point out that after installing the plugin/software, I can't remove it from the folder DOWNLOADED PROGRAM FILES or even deactivate it when running "services.msc". I receive errors that indicate I can't uninstall the add-on for the browser.

At last, I think it's important to tell that the problem doesn't happen because of Java instalation. After installing Java here, which is also necessary to access the password page of the bank, Objectdock continued working great.

just for grins... are you also running WindowBlinds? if so try adding Gbpsrv.exe to the exclusion list

I'll give it a try. I've done so while using Rocketdock but the problem continued happening.

But the question is: is it worth to reduce security here when accessing my bank account because of OD or RD? I do really think there could be an improvement in terms of compatibility. Don't you think so?

Anyway, the problem continued happenig after following Bichur's advice. The issue is really a kind of conflict between the way OD or RD work and the security tool.

Adding up... robertre, thank you for the link but the tutorial works only for those who use limited accounts. I'm registered as administrator and as soon as I load the bank page again, the tool will be re-installed.

I think that, considering those facts, it's up to Stardock to solve the compatibility issue.

Yes. Everything is as it should be. The problem is the incompatibility between the security tool and OD. In the link roberte indicated, there's another comment (the one before the last, posted by me) in which the blogger indicates that RD worked properly again after reinstalling Windows and not installing G-Buster.

To what I read so far, this piece of software has a tendency to eat lots of chuncks from your cpu. I strongly recomend you to remove it, and make sure you always enter your internet banking using a limited account. This way, this plugin will work only during the session and will not be installed. You will still be using it's added security, but keeping your system clean.

On WindowsXP, you can always create a shortcut like this:

runas /user:myuseraccount iexplore.exe

And it will run IE under a different account, with lower rights in your case.

As this is a plug-in specific to some Brazilian banks, chances are, neither OD nor RD will be changed to coexist nicelly with it.

I know that is true. Concerning RD, although it's a free software, it seems that the support will check the issue. OD has some advantages and I had been thinking of buying the license. However, as there is that problem between it and the security application, I'll wait for some feedback from the bank.
