I'm not sure about the font - I like the default - but to increase the size of a tabbed dock, open it, then hover your pointer over either side of the dock. The pointer will turn to a "left-right" style, then simply drag to change the size. Note that all tabs will change at the same time, and if you set it too small, the text on the tabs themselves will get cut off.

By the way, you can also move the dock itself left and right by opening a tab, clicking and holding in an empty space, and moving your mouse side to side.

Hover over the side or at the corner, just like sizing a window.

Turns out the problem is that I was using a Leopard 3D style. The left/right resize can't be done. I changed it to a box stye and it worked.

By the way, what does a system tab do? It's just an empty tab. Is it supposed to do something special?

Do you mean resizing? Yes, you can only resize a tabbed dock.

Koasati, I was wrong about that font choice on the Misc. Tab. It does not change the font of the text under each entry. So it appears there is no way to do that.

Those backgrounds have a box around the dock (even though they are called tabbed) so they work. The two I mentioned do not, each entry has a little "tray" or ring under it, with no box around the entire dock so there is nothing to grab.

When I say "entry" I don't mean the tabs themselves, but the individual icons within each tab.

I was able to change the dock style, resize it, and change it back.

The text on the show names is most definitely not the same as on the tabs. When I change the fonts on the tabs, the text under the individual entries does not change.

I've updated and tried to adjust this again.  I've found that the dialog box changes for font, bold, italics affect both the tab text and the text under the icons, but the size does not, i.e. if you change the size the tab text changes but the text under each icon does not change.
