"He rode a blazing saddle
He wore a shining star
His job to offer battle
To bad men near and far..."
Blazing
Saddles, Mel Brooks' classic sendup of the Hollywood western,
will be released
on DVD later this week in a special 30th Anniversary edition.
Despite the R rating and abundant raunchiness there was one line
censors wouldn't let pass -- and it may be the funniest line in the
whole movie.
Madeline Kahn's
heavily accented singer Lili Von Shtupp invites sheriff Cleavon
Little to her room for dinner hoping to seduce him. They move to the
couch. She attempts to work her mojo. The lights go out. Here's the
dialogue as presented:
Lili: Is it twue how zey say zat you people are...
gifted?
(Lights go out, sound of zipper opening)
Lili: Oh. It's twue! It's twue!
The censors cut
the sheriff's response. Here, for the first time ever on JU, is the
original dialogue:
Lili: Is it twue how zey say zat you people are...
gifted?
(Lights go out, sound of zipper opening)
Lili: Oh. It's twue! It's twue!
(slurping sounds)
Sheriff: Lady -- you're sucking my arm!
If that's not
included on the DVD it should be!
